Organized by the Educational Center for Democracy and Human Rights CIVITAS as the license holder for the implementation and monitoring of the implementation of the international educational program “Project Citizen/I am a Citizen”, and with the support of the Pedagogical Institute of Zenica and this school year 2022/2023, a cantonal competition for primary and secondary schools in civic education, i.e. democracy and human rights, entitled “Project Citizen/I am a Citizen” was held.
The “Project Citizen/I am a Citizen” competition was implemented in an online format through live presentations with a digital portfolio of student works, as follows: 12-13.4.2023. for primary schools and 18-19.4.2023. for secondary schools. A total of 25 schools participated (15 primary and 10 secondary), whose representatives demonstrated good knowledge of the opportunities and problems in the local community, as well as a willingness to work together with the authorities in solving identified public policy problems. The winners of the competition, who represented the Zenica-Doboj Canton in the Final Review program on May 18-19, 2023, are:
- First Gymnasium Zenica (mentorship: professor Jasmina Delić)
- Elementary School “Skender Kulenović” Zenica (mentorship: teacher Šećan Mujčinović)
The Final Review, as the final, review element of these competitions, was traditionally held in the Great Hall of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Final Review was attended by Mirza Čehajić, an expert advisor in the field of education, on behalf of the Zenica Pedagogical Institute.
