The international conference “Innovate for Growth: Fostering Sustainable Development through Innovation” was held on October 21 and 22, 2025, in Sarajevo as part of the project “Better Governance for Faster Economic Growth (EGG2),” funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Norway and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conference was organized within the framework of the Sustainable Development Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2025 and brought together representatives from institutions, academia, innovation centers, the private sector, and international organizations from the European Union and Western Balkan countries.
Throughout the program, discussions focused on how innovation can drive sustainable development and accelerate economic growth, through the exchange of experiences and best practices from the region and beyond. A series of sessions and workshops were held, addressing ways to strengthen innovation ecosystems, encourage collaboration between academia and industry, improve access to financing, and equip young people with 21st-century skills needed for future jobs.
Aida Salkić, Director of the Pedagogical Institute of Zenica, actively participated in the conference through the thematic workshop “From Research to Market: Connecting Science and the Market,” highlighting the importance of educational institutions in transforming knowledge into applicable innovations and the need to strengthen links between education, research, and the labor market. The participation of the Pedagogical Institute in such an international event confirms its strategic orientation toward modernizing education and empowering younger generations for future challenges.
