International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBEBIH 2025)

The 6th International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBEBIH 2025) was held in Sarajevo. It is the largest scientific and professional gathering of its kind in Southeast Europe, taking place biennially since its inception and bringing together leading domestic and international experts, researchers, innovators, industry representatives, and policymakers.

The Conference was organized by the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DMBIUBIH), in collaboration with the Verlab Research Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Medical Devices, and Artificial Intelligence—an internationally recognized organization for innovation and research based in Sarajevo.

Under the motto “From Science to Business”, the conference featured a rich program of keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops, book promotions, and student activities, fostering the exchange of knowledge and ideas. With the participation of the public sector, it strengthened the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral nature of the event.

Aida Salkić, Director of the Pedagogical Institute of Zenica, participated in this significant conference through the panel discussion titled: New Approaches and Technologies in Education – The Role of Critical Thinking in Biomedical Engineering Curricula. The panel explored how critical thinking is integrated into educational programs; which new approaches and technologies are considered key to advancing education over the next 5–10 years; how educational policies can support teachers in applying innovative methods; and how students are engaged in the process.

As part of the program, representatives of the Pedagogical Institute of Zenica also took part in the Climate Collage workshop—an innovative pedagogical tool—organized in cooperation with the French Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This workshop, based on the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report, provides a scientific foundation for understanding the causes and consequences of climate assessments, as well as actions to mitigate them. The Climate Collage encourages both individual and collective action in preserving our planet. This participatory method, adaptable to all age groups, offers education through creativity and interaction, making learning about climate challenges accessible and inspiring.
