The tenth National EPALE Conference titled “Minds Beyond Artificial Intelligence” was held in Banja Luka on October 29, 2025, organized by the Agency for Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education (APOSO) and the National Support Services (NSS) EPALE Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Since 2015, the Agency for Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education has been implementing the ERASMUS+ EPALE project with the aim of improving adult education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and aligning it with European educational standards. The electronic platform EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) enables networking and the exchange of teaching materials, experiences, and best practices with experts from the region and across Europe. Six EPALE ambassadors have been appointed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Meliha Švraka-Mutapčić from the Mixed Secondary School Zenica.
Following current topics on the EPALE platform in 2025, the Conference focused on the theme of artificial intelligence, which is becoming increasingly present in the world of education. Students, teachers, and educational systems are beginning to harness its potential to facilitate and enhance the learning process. Discussions covered the possibilities of AI in teaching and science, artificial intelligence in the service of knowledge (adaptive learning and 21st-century competencies), AI and professional development, and how to learn, teach, and progress in the era of artificial intelligence.
Representatives of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica, led by Director Aida Salkić, participated in the Conference, which provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and examples of good practice, further strengthening professional ties among educational institutions. The importance of continuous dialogue on the role of technology in education was reaffirmed, along with a demonstrated readiness to respond to the challenges brought by digital transformation.
