A validation workshop entitled Effectiveness of Teacher Communities of Practice in B&H, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia was held in Sarajevo. The workshop, which brought together teachers, as well as representatives of ministries, pedagogical institutes and NGOs, presented the results of the Research “More than a Meeting: Building Effective Teacher Communities of Practice in B&H”. The research is part of a regional partnership between UNICEF offices in B&H, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Innocenti – UNICEF Research Centre and aims to generate practical evidence that can strengthen the sustainability and impact of interventions related to communities of practice in the Western Balkans.
Communities of practice are groups of educators who come together because of common interests and motivation to learn and share with each other. Significant efforts have been made in the Western Balkans to create and strengthen these communities in order to improve education and skills development. Communities of practice offer a practical and scalable model for the professional development of teachers in B&H.
The workshop was organized within the framework of the Dialogue for the Future 3 (DFF3) project, jointly implemented by UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina, UNICEF B&H and UNESCO Office in Venice on behalf of the United Nations in B&H, in partnership with the Presidency of B&H and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of B&H, with the support of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund of the UN Secretary-General. The validation workshop was also attended by representatives of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica. More information about this event can be found at the following link.
