The Pedagogical Institute Zenica is an administrative organization within the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Zenica-Doboj Canton. In accordance with the Law on Cantonal Ministries and Other Bodies of Cantonal Administration, the Pedagogical Institute Zenica performs expert and related administrative tasks, as provided for by law and other regulations, which relate to the realization of the competences of the Canton in the fields of preschool, primary and secondary education.
The activities of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica are based on the objectives determined under the Three-Year and Annual Work Programmes of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica. The Three-Year and Annual Work Programmes of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica constitute an integral part of the Work Programme of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government. As per usual practice, the Pedagogical Institute Zenica organize their programme of activities by areas as follows:
- a) Normative activities,
- b) Pedagogical-expert supervision,
- c) Advisory-instructional work,
- d) Scientific and research activities,
- e) Database,
- f) Support for gifted students and
- g) Monitoring projects of domestic and international organizations.
The vision of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica, as an administrative organization within the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton, obliges us to be recognized as a proactive institution that follows contemporary trends in education thus contributing to the creation and implementation of educational policy in the Zenica – Doboj Canton area.
The Pedagogical Institute Zenica focus their activities on improving cooperation with educational authorities at the state and Federation levels, partnership with similar institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the surrounding countries, strengthening capacities within the Pedagogical Institute, modernizing curricula and framework programmes that support the development of students’ key competencies, creating of a new concept for the professional development of teachers, pre-school teachers, expert associates and school management, all with a view to improving the effectiveness of the work of educational institutions in the area of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
