The 11th Cantonal German Language Competition for Secondary School Students in the Zenica-Doboj Canton was held on 9 March 2024, in the organisation of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica and with the support of the Goethe-Institut Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Catholic School Centre “Sveti Pavao” General Grammar School Zenica, which proved to be an outstanding host. The sponsor of the Competition was the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. Director of the Catholic School Centre “Sveti Pavao” Zenica, Vlatko Rosić and the coordinator of the organisation and implementation of the Competition, Sanja Hadžihajdić, an expert advisor for education at the Pedagogical Institute Zenica, delivered welcoming speeches and opened the Competition. Twenty four students from 13 secondary schools participated and competed at levels A2, B1 and B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The assignments, prepared by the Goethe-Institut, covered three language skills – reading comprehension, listening comprehension and speaking. The students showed a high level of knowledge, but also creativity in the presentations they prepared as a result of group work for evaluating speaking skill.
According to the results of the 11th Cantonal German Language Competition for Secondary School Students, the three first-placed students by levels are:

Level B2
- Ivano Iviš, Franciscan Classical Grammar School Visoko,
- Anđela Tadić, Franciscan Classical Grammar School Visoko,
- Ajna Mujanović, Mixed Secondary School „Musa Ćazim Ćatić“ Olovo.
The three first-placed students, one for each level, earned the right to participate in the state competition “German Olympiad 2024”, which will be held on 19 April 2024 in the organization and on the premises of the Goethe-Institut Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo:

The Pedagogical Institute congratulates all the students and teachers on their results, and we wish the representatives of the Zenica-Doboj Canton every success at the state competition, with the desire to qualify for the International German Olympiad, which this year will be held in Göttingen from 15 to 22 July.
