Caritas Switzerland in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Pedagogical Institute Zenica, and the Center for Roma Support ‘’Romalen’’ in Kakanj, is implementing the project “An Integrated Approach to Social Inclusion.”
As part of the project activities, on April 8, 2024, in the premises of the Cultural and Sports Center in Kakanj, the World Roma Day was marked in a fitting manner. The focus of this significant date’s celebration was primarily on Roma culture and customs, as well as raising awareness about the importance of accepting others and different people, without prejudice and discrimination, while respecting the concept of unity in diversity.
Through a rich cultural and artistic program, students and teachers from three primary schools in the Kakanj Municipality presented their work in the areas of visual projection, fine arts, and literary creation. Participants included teachers and students from the Public Institution Primary School “Hamdija Kreševljaković” Kakanj, Public Institution Primary School “15. April” Kakanj, and Public Institution Primary School “Mula Mustafa Bašeskija” Kakanj. At the end of this event, the most successful classes and individuals from the aforementioned schools and segments of their work were announced, and the awards were presented to the winners by: the Mayor of Kakanj – Mirnes Bajtarević, the Deputy Director of Caritas Switzerland in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Zlatan Savić, and Aida Salkić, the Director of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica.
