At the invitation of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica attended the event “Teachers’ Gatherings: Our Small and Big Reforms in the Classroom” organized in Sarajevo on April 21, 2026. Through the theme “My Journey Through Subject Curricula: What I Have (Not) Changed in My Practice”, the event provided an opportunity for teachers and students to present their practices in applying new outcome-based curricula developed within the curricular reform process supported by the OSCE Mission in BiH. Participants, through presentations and panel discussions, demonstrated how focusing on learning outcomes and the development of student competencies has influenced classroom practices.
From the Zenica-Doboj Canton, reflections on visible changes in teaching and learning processes, as well as examples of practices aligned with the new curricula, were presented in a World Café session by teachers and students of the Public Institution Gymnasium “Visoko” in Visoko, who showcased an innovative approach to teaching. Their examples illustrated how a stimulating learning environment is created in which students are active participants who explore, analyze, and apply knowledge. As they now emphasize, alongside knowledge transfer, they also work on developing functional, creative, and responsible young people prepared for the challenges of modern society.
The implementation of new outcome-based curricula shows that it is possible to create a classroom where students actively participate in the learning process, develop critical thinking and creativity, and acquire skills for life and work in contemporary society. Such examples of good practice confirm that investing in education is an investment in the future of our community.
The Pedagogical Institute Zenica will continue to support the implementation of new curricula through professional assistance to teachers, monitoring of curriculum application, and encouraging the exchange of experiences.
