Organized by the Institute for Health and Food Safety in Zenica and UNICEF, a roundtable was held in Zenica dedicated to presenting the results of the project “Situational Assessment of the System of Support for the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents in Zenica, Žepče, and Zavidovići.”
The event brought together representatives of the health, education, and social sectors, as well as international organizations and local institutions, with the aim of assessing the current situation and improving the system of support for the mental health of children and young people in three local communities.
The Pedagogical Institute Zenica was represented by Aida Salkić – Director, Amila Herceg Hodžić, Education Advisor – Inclusive Education and Amela Serdarević-Šogolj, Education Advisor.
The research included focused discussions, focus groups, and surveys with representatives of schools, mental health centers within health institutions, and social work services in Zenica, Žepče and Zavidovići.
Results in the education sector were presented by PhD Nino Hasanica, who emphasized the challenges faced by young people. It was concluded that safeguarding the mental health of children and youth requires continuous research, stronger cross-sectoral cooperation and strategic approach to ensure that every child receives timely and adequate support within their community.
