Within the framework of the three-year EU Preschool Project, which is being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a three-day workshop dedicated to self-evaluation and external evaluation of pilot preschool institutions was held in Neum from June 8 to 10, 2026. The workshop was attended by Fehim Terzić and Amela Serdarević-Šogolj, expert advisors in the field of education, representing the Pedagogical Institute Zenica who will play the role of coordinator for the external evaluation of pilot preschool institutions in the coming period. The pilot preschool institutions in the Zenica-Doboj Canton are the J.P.U. “Ivančica” Usora and the PI for Preschool Education “Mladost” Kakanj.
The focus of the workshop was also on the analysis of documents related to the self-evaluation reports of pilot preschool institutions, with additional data analysis, reflection on the findings and defining improvement plans as a basis for further development of the quality of the institutions’ work. Also, through the workshop, an effort was made to ensure a common understanding of the role of preschool institutions, pedagogical institutes/institutes and competent educational authorities in linking self-evaluation, external evaluation, curricular reform and continuous professional development into a sustainable quality improvement system.
The workshop was led by: Boris Ćurković, head of the project team; Nirvana Pištoljević, key expert for preschool curriculum development; Maja Jukić, key expert for quality assurance and continuous professional development; Sanja Brajković, senior short-term expert for monitoring and evaluation (self-evaluation); Sanja Berčnik, senior short-term expert for monitoring and evaluation (external evaluation); Vesna Radulović, senior short-term expert for educator training and Nedim Krajišnik, short-term expert for continuous monitoring and evaluation (self-evaluation and external evaluation).
