The 13th Cantonal German Language Competition for Secondary School Students in the Zenica-Doboj Canton was held on 14 March 2026, in the organisation of the Pedagogical Institute Zenica and with the support of the Goethe-Institut Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the First Gymnasium in Zenica. The students and staff of the host school made a great effort to ensure that the competition would remain a pleasant memory for everyone, thanks to its excellent organization and an emotional welcoming programme. The sponsor of the Competition was the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Assistant Headmistress of the First Gymnasium in Zenica, Jasmina Delić and the coordinator of organisation and implementation of the Competition, Sanja Hadžihajdić, Expert Advisor for Education at the Pedagogical Institute Zenica, delivered welcoming speeches and opened the Competition.
A total of 19 students from 10 secondary schools, accompanied by their 11 teachers, participated and competed at A2 and B1 levels (no students were registered for B2 level) in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The competition tasks, prepared by the Goethe-Institut, covered three language skills – reading comprehension, listening comprehension and speaking. The students showed a high level of knowledge, as well as creativity in the presentations they prepared as a result of group work for the assessment of speaking skills.
According to the results of the 13th Cantonal German Language Competition for Secondary School Students, the three first-placed students by level are:
A2 Level
- Sumejja Keserović, First Gymnasium in Zenica,
- Ahmed Čelebić, Gymnasium „Muhsin Rizvić“ Kakanj,
- Lamija Mujčinović, Gymnasium „Visoko“ Visoko,
- Danis Hedžić, Catholic School Centre „Sveti Pavao“ General Gymnasium Zenica,
- Šejla Cerovac, Gymnasium „Musa Ćazim Ćatić“ Tešanj,
- Benjamin Bitinović, Gymnasium „Visoko“ Visoko.
The two first-placed students, one for each level, qualified for the Final German Language Competition 2026, which will be held on 17 April 2026 in the organization and at the premises of the Goethe-Institut Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo:
- Sumejja Keserović, First Gymnasium in Zenica –A2 Level ,
- Danis Hedžić, Catholic School Centre „Sveti Pavao“ General Gymnasium Zenica –B1 Level.
