Trainer validation and seminar for IT teachers in primary schools were successfully held

In the premises of the Zenica Mixed Secondary School, from March 8 to 10, 2026, professional training for computer science teachers was held, organized by the Zenica Pedagogical Institute and the British Council. The program was divided into two phases, a validation program for trainers and a two-day seminar for IT teachers from elementary schools in the Zenica-Doboj Canton. This professional training is a continuation of the activities from the Memorandum of Understanding of the Zenica Pedagogical Institute and the British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the project “Schools for the 21st Century”, which builds the capacity of teachers to teach students critical thinking skills and digital skills with practical knowledge of coding.

The first part of the “Trainer Training” program was the trainer validation program, i.e. the completion of training and preparation of teachers to independently conduct training in the field of micro:bit application in computer science teaching and the basics of AI application in teaching. The following teachers/coaches passed the validation program: Haris Mularifović, Reuf Husejnović, Aldina Nadžaković and Ajna Muflizović.

The second part of the program was a seminar called “Application of Micro:bit in teaching informatics and basics of applying AI in teaching preparation”, which was led by validated teachers making a special contribution to the quality of education, responding to today’s most modern challenges. During the seminar, primary school teachers had the opportunity to explore: advanced use of Micro:bit devices and MicroPython programming; application of artificial intelligence (AI) as an assistant in lesson planning; ethical use of AI tools and the development of critical thinking in students and the creation of interactive materials and visual content with the help of new technologies. For the schools where they work, the teachers received a package of equipment that includes Micro:bit V2 devices and a Kitronic set and thus got the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their use in teaching through practical workshops, developing creative projects and solving problems in real situations, opening the way to a future where education encourages creativity, practicality and the joy of discovery.

Emphasizing the importance of such trainings and donated equipment, the participants were addressed by Aida Salkić, director of the Zenica Pedagogical Institute, Amila Karavdić, director of cultural cooperation of the British Council, and Amela Mujaković, director of the Zenica mixed secondary school, which hosted this seminar.

We express our gratitude to the Mixed Secondary School Zenica and the director of this school for the provided working conditions and warm welcome, which significantly contributed to the successful realization of the seminar.

The activity coordinators from the Zenica Pedagogical Institute were Aldiana Nuhanović and Aldijana Salić, expert advisers for the field of education, and Amila Herceg-Hodžić, expert adviser for the field of education – inclusive education.
